EASTERN TOWHEE

Eastern Towhee Call

Recorded in Penrose, NC, Spring, 2009.

I have often confused the Eastern Towhee with the Rufous-sided Towhee and have learned others are still debating whether or not these are considered a single species. The distinctive "drink your teeaa" call is one I grew up with in the midlands of South Carolina and now hear where we live in Western North Carolina.

Towhees are considered New World Sparrows and breed in brushy areas across eastern North America.

For more information on the Towhee from The Cornell Lab of Ornithology, go HERE.
