Carolina Wren
This was recorded in Penrose, North Carolina, Spring, 2009 and 2011.
The official state bird of my home state of South Carolina, the Carolina Wren is a friendly, vocal and outgoing bird. We have had Carolina Wrens build several nests on our porch, even one in a wicker rocking chair! One year a pair built a nest in an old, dry fountain. My husband, Homer, set up our little security camera over the nest and we got to watch the babies hatch, grow up and leave the nest over a period of weeks. We became so attached to this little family that we were quite broken up when they left!
These little birds sing one of the loudest songs per volume of birds in the bird world and love to break out in song anywhere at anytime! We love having them around and I hope to be able to capture some more songs and publish them here.
